New Year's Resolution

Every time I go to the gym after this new year, it is packed. I've never seen so many people together, sweating, before in my life. Losing weight is probably the number one new year's resolution in this country. Maybe even in the world.

This year, I will be honest, for once I did not make any resolutions. Of course there are things I would like to do, things I need to do. However, this year I felt like putting it in a resolution would be futile. What's the point when we all know by February I would have forgotten about it.

But it is a new year. At least according to the Christian calendar. It's a time of renewal, to think big thoughts, make big plans. I think I started this New Year out right by doing the things I really want to do with my life.

What do you want to do this year? What do you want to do with your life? I mean really do? What could you pack in a year to make a difference in your life? What are your goals?

There is currently a backlash against New Year's Resolutions because historically we found that very few people actually stick with them. However, the new year is a time to contemplate what we want out of our life. The seasons change, the years change, and so can we.

The marking of a new year is the marking of renewal. All of us will change, that is the only that is for sure: change. But how will we change? What will we change into? We can plan that if we want or just let it go by the whims of the universe.

Let's face it, life and the universe can be cruel. I would rather be in the driver's seat on this one. I want to be the one who decides what course my life will take.
